Service Providers: Extension Service

The Virginia Cooperative Extension's goal is to offer the resources of Virginia's land-grant universities so we can help our local communities, and the people in them, flourish. We work in community development through outreach in agriculture and natural resources (strengthening environmental health, farm production issues, homeowner land management), family and consumer sciences (nutrition, financial management, child care), 4-H (youth leadership) and community viability (a systems approach to building communities).

In Virginia, there are extension offices in almost every county, supported by Virginia Tech and Virginia State University, that offer classes, publications and connections to needed resources. We receive funding from the USDA, the State of Virginia and individual counties. This support allows us to provide our services largely free of charge.

This dynamic organization strives to stimulate positive change, both personally and socially, which hopefully lead to better lives, families and communities.
